VisualSteps privacy policy

In short

VisualSteps is a picture routine app that parents and carers use to make step-by-step morning and bedtime routines. Your records are stored on your device. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not collect, receive or sell any of your information.

What the app stores, and where

The app stores children's first names, colours and icons you choose, routine and step names, timers, photos you add to steps, when a routine was started and finished and which steps were completed (used to show 'Done today'), and your child-mode settings. This is kept in the app's private storage on your device.

The app does not upload your records to us and has no online service of its own. Apple's App Store services are contacted only to load prices, make purchases and restore purchases.

Your records can leave the device in two ways: when you choose to share or save a printable PDF (which includes step photos), or export a backup file, which goes only where you send it; and through your own iPhone backup (iCloud or computer), which may include the app's data depending on your backup settings.

Permissions

Camera, only if you allow it, to take photos for routine steps.

Photos: when you choose existing photos, the system photo picker gives the app only the photos you pick. The app does not ask for access to your whole library.

Files: the system file picker is used to choose where to save a backup file and to pick a backup file to import. A VisualSteps backup includes your photos. The app only reaches the files you choose.

Information about other people

VisualSteps may hold information about your child (first name, routine activity and any photos you add). You decide what to enter and you are responsible for it under UK data protection law. We never receive it.

Purchases

VisualSteps offers a one-off purchase that unlocks more children, unlimited routines, printing and backup. Payments are handled by Apple. We do not receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. To know what you have unlocked, the app keeps the purchase and transaction details Apple provides (such as product, transaction ID and expiry date) on your device.

Links

The app may open a page from the National Autistic Society about visual supports (opened behind a parent gate) in your browser. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Deleting your information

Delete all data in the app's Settings removes your records and attached files. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device, including its settings. Exports and backups you made yourself are not affected; delete those separately.

Children

VisualSteps is made for parents and carers to use with their children. The app does not send any information about your child to us; anything entered stays on the device unless you share or back it up.

Changes to this policy

If the app's handling of information changes, we will update this page and the effective date before the change ships.
