Kennel Log privacy policy
Effective 31 October 2026.
In short
Kennel Log is a record book for dog home boarding and day care businesses licensed in England. Your records are stored on your device. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not collect, receive or sell any of your information.
What the app stores, and where
The app stores your business and licence details (name, licence number, council, expiry date, star rating and capacity), dog details, owners' and emergency contacts' names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses, vets and insurance, stays including who handed over and collected each dog, daily care and health records, consents, staff names and training, cleaning records, your emergency plan, and the date of your last backup. This is kept in the app's private storage on your device.
The app does not upload your records to us and has no online service of its own. Apple's App Store services are contacted only to load prices, make purchases and restore purchases.
Your records can leave the device in two ways: when you choose to export inspection records (PDF or CSV) or a backup file, which goes only where you send it; and through your own iPhone backup (iCloud or computer), which may include the app's data depending on your backup settings.
Permissions
Files: the system file picker is used to pick a training certificate (PDF or image) and to save or import a backup file. A backup includes attached certificates. The app only reaches the files you choose.
Notifications, only if you allow them: reminders for vaccinations, licence renewal, staff training reviews and backups, if you turn reminders on. These are scheduled on your device; nothing is sent from a server.
Information about other people
Kennel Log may hold information about dog owners, emergency contacts and your staff. You decide what to enter and you are responsible for it under UK data protection law. We never receive it.
Purchases
Kennel Log offers a one-off purchase that unlocks unlimited active dogs (archived dogs never count towards the free limit). Payments are handled by Apple. We do not receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. To know what you have unlocked, the app keeps the purchase and transaction details Apple provides (such as product, transaction ID and expiry date) on your device.
Links
The app may open the 2018 licensing regulations on legislation.gov.uk, DEFRA guidance on GOV.UK and the ICO's pages for small businesses in your browser. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Deleting your information
Delete all data in the app's Settings removes your records and attached files. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device, including its settings. Exports and backups you made yourself are not affected; delete those separately.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of information changes, we will update this page and the effective date before the change ships.
